Governor's School and More.....

The Governors School Information Night is December 6 at 6:00 in the KGMS Auditorium.  Come hear the superintendent, staff and students talk about both programs:  Commonwealth Governor's School and Chesapeake Bay Governor's School.  Dr. VanderPloeg, Superintendent of Commonwealth Governor's School,  will be here Nov 29th to speak to the students about the program.

Members of the Fleet Reserve Association Branch 207 invite all middle school students  to participate in the Association’s 2017 Americanism Essay Contest. Participants are invited to submit a 350-word essay centered on this year’s theme: “What Patriotism Means to Me”.  There is a Grand National Prize of $5,000!  Essays are dueNovember 30th.  To learn more about FRA’s Americanism Essay Contest, contact Jerry L Sweeney at 605-645-9682 or jerrylsweeney@gmail.com  


The Rotary District 7610 is having its annual essay contest for 7th and 8th graders.  The essay theme is 4 WAY TEST, which ask these 4 questions: 
1. Is it the truth?
2. Is it fair to all concerned?
3. Will it build goodwill and better friendships?
4. Will it be beneficial to all concerned?

October in the Counseling Office

For Bully Prevention Month (October) and Red Ribbon Week, we have several activities planned at King George Middle School...
Oct 19, Presenters from Dahlgren Area Security Professionals will be here for an assembly on Internet Safety.  The presentation touches on (4) main issues: Inappropriate Content, Online Privacy, Online Sexual Solicitations, and Cyberbullying.  The content comes from a presentation put together by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children via their NetSmartz Workshop.
 
Oct 23-31 is Red Ribbon Week.  There is a theme for each day with something specific to wear.  And we have different activities...some are fun, some are math and English related...to do during Foxes Den.

WELCOME BACK!

The Counseling Office at King George Middle School would like to welcome all students and family to the 2017-2018 school year. We are excited for a busy year.
 
 
 
 
Parents and Students.....KGMS is proud to open the Career Corner.  It is located between the Counseling Office and the Clinic.  You can take interest surveys, research colleges and careers.  The Career Corner will be open during lunch once volunteers are scheduled. If you are interested and free between 11:00 - 12:30, or if you have questions, please contact Allison Daughtridge, adaughtridge@kgcs.k12.va.us.

AUGUST 25TH WILL BE OUR BACK-TO-SCHOOL PEP RALLY. This will take place during the school day. Students will be introduced to our token
reward
system for positive behavior and the themed dress days, i.e. Well Dressed Wednesday, Jersey Thursday, Fox Friday! 7th graders wear YELLOW and 8th graders wear BLUE!

School Dressing Days

School Dressing Days serves children in need, grades K-12 in Fredericksburg, Caroline, King George, Spotsylvania and Stafford.  
This year’s event will be held on Friday, August 11 and Saturday, August 12, 2017 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 1710 Bragg Road, Fredericksburg, VA 22407
We provide each school-aged child with a new pair of jeans, new shirt, new socks, new underwear, backpack, school supplies, and toiletries.  They can also choose a gently-used coat, jacket, or hoodie and a used pair of shoes (sizes limited).
